Collections
Documentation status: reference — see Maturity and evidence.
A collection is a navigation and projection contract over the model. It describes which conceptual set should be observed rather than an imperative traversal algorithm.
What a collection can express
- target set;
- filters;
- projection;
- relation traversal;
- composition;
- aggregates when supported by the grammar and provider.
Collections and views
A collection often supplies the data for a view, DataSet, or publication. The collection remains independent from the final representation.
Collections and persistence
A collection is not a SQL table. The Runtime or provider may optimize, index, or materialize its execution without changing its conceptual meaning.
See Joins, Unions, and Collection elements.
